DEPARTMENT OF DESIRE (Original title - Ihade osakond)

The Department of Scenography of the Estonian Academy of Arts and Mart Koldits (Von Krahl) seek the nature of desire at Draama Festival.

Department of Desire is a team of 8 people, including the director at Von Krahl theatre Mart Koldits, cinematographer Urmas Jõemees, and members of the Department of Scenography of the Estonian Academy of Arts: Sander Põldsaar, Eve Ormisson, Henry Griin, Kristel Maamägi, Ele Krusell and Kristi Soe. The Department of Desire has taken place eight times at the Von Krahl theatre and eight times at the international festival of scenography Prague Quadriennal 2011.

Department of Desire is a project of theatre and live film, seeking to investigate and make visible the methods which are used to arouse desire in people by film and television.  This artistic and creative team uses web cameras, live montage, miniature LED lightning system, models, sound system, microphones, dolls, magazine cut-outs, mini-projection, etc. to conjure up a story. Because when there is no story, then where is it? Isn’t desire itself a story?

How long will the story get, no one knows.

Premiered at POT Festival on April 23, 2011, at 19 at the rehearsal hall of Von Krahl Theatre.
