FAKE BLOOD AND TEARS
Young guard of Rakvere Theatre
ERROR’s aesthetics

The freshest blood of Rakvere Theatre has staged a story inspired by Latin-American soap operas that discusses human need for great passion. The production was motivated by a wish to understand how great passions seen in the soap operas of our childhood affect the way we express love or hatred. This has resulted in a musical story with soap-opera-like repetitions. It begins where most Latin-American soap-operas begin – a poor country girl comes to work as a maid at a family of rich townspeople.
We come from the generation that has grown up with Mexican soap series. The series The Rich Also Cry, Simply Mary and other telenovelas that appeared on the TV screens of our childhood still influence our understanding of what ideal life should be like and how emotions should really be expressed.
But... “I slept, I dreamt – and now the time has come to wake up.”
In the end, it is only the poor who cry.
